From Sheikh Zayed road, take exit 36 into the tunnel, keep on your right. At the 1st traffic signal take a left turn and you can see the Hospital on your right hand, opposite to the American School of Dubai.


Your admitting Doctor and his/her nurse will inform you the schedule of your admission and if applicable provide you with the details regarding the area/ward you will be admitted to. Should there be a need, the doctor and nurse may ask you to fast for a specific duration. Special instructions i.e. medications to be taken at home or withheld prior to your procedure will be explained in detail.


We will be requiring a copy of an Identification Card (Passport/Emirates ID). We will ask you to sign a general consent form explaining what to expect from our hospital. Subsequently, you will choose your room type, make payments and finalize the billing details.

  • We advise you to carry minimal valuables. If you have any, keep it in the safety locker provided in your room or with the security office (you will be asked to sign a form prior to handing over your value to us).


Passport

Virtually every traveler entering the U.A.E. is required to show a passport. It is advised always to have at least one or two consecutive blank pages in your passport to allow space for visas and stamps that need to appear together. If you have no room, you will need to apply for a new passport. It is also important to note when your passport expires.

Visa

Nationals of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States (as well as those of various other countries) do not require visas to visit the U.A.E. for stays of less than 30 days. They will be granted a free-of-charge One Entry Visit Visa upon arrival, and can extend for up to a total stay of 60 days for AED 620. A penalty of AED 100 per day is charged to visitors who overstay. For longer stays, travelers must obtain a visa before arrival in the U.A.E.

What Can You Bring into the U.A.E — Every visitor to the U.A.E. may bring in, free of duty, their personal effects and 400 cigarettes, 2 kg (4[b/f]1/2 lb.) of tobacco, and up to AED 3,000 worth of gifts. It is illegal to import drugs or pornography. For a list of prohibited medicines in the U.A.E., visit the “tourist tips” section of www.dubaitourism.ae. After collecting your luggage at the airport, your bags will be X-rayed for inspection. There is also a duty-free sales outlet in the Dubai International Airport Arrivals hall. Duty-free allowances include 10 cigarette cartons, 100 cigars, 2 liters of spirits and 2 liters of wine (non-Muslim adults only), and perfume for personal use. No health certificates are required for entry to the U.A.E., except for visitors who have been in an area infected by cholera or yellow fever during the past 14 days. However, an HIV/AIDS test is required for work or residence in the U.A.E., and testing must be performed after arrival. For more information, visit www.dubaitourism.ae.


In general, if you have the below conditions; it is prohibited to travel by air

  • Have passed 36 weeks of pregnancy (or 32 weeks if you are carrying twins, triplets, etc.).
  • Have a recent heart attack or stroke. Or any type of surgery, especially stomach, brain, eye, orthopedic (bone and joint) surgery including stomach, eye, or head injury. Please check with your doctor to see when it is safe for you to travel.
  • Have an implanted cardiac device such as pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD); please check with your doctor before travelling by air. Don’t forget to carry your personal device identification card with you at all times.
  • Have flu-like symptoms with or without tuberculosis like symptoms such as prolonged cough, weight loss, night sweat, fatigue, fever, and chest pain for more than 2 weeks. We strongly advise you to not travel at this stage, and for them to continue treatment with their current care team until his symptoms have resolved completely.
  • Are suffering from the below signs and symptoms, please check with your doctor to see when it is safe for you to travel.
    • Chest pain.
    • Any disease that you can easily spread to other people.
    • Severe sinus, ear, or nose infections.
    • Breathlessness at rest, difficult breathing.
    • Psychotic illness except when fully controlled.
    • A fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) or greater.
    • Skin rash
    • Confusion
    • Bruising or bleeding (without previous injury)
    • Diarrhea that does not go away.
    • Vomiting that does not go away (other than motion sickness).

During the flight:

  • Keep all of your medications in your hand luggage.
  • Drink plenty of water to help prevent hydration and to help loosen your sputum and allow you to keep your chest clear from low humidity levels in air cabin.
  • During a long-distance flight of 4 hours or longer (Also see https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/dvt/travel.html, deep vein thrombosis can occur as a result of this inactivity; make sure you get up and walk about regularly when permitted by the staff on the aircraft. Bend and stretch your legs and wiggle your feet at regular intervals (for example every 30 minutes) to encourage your circulation.
  • If you have a higher risk of developing deep vein thrombosis, your doctor can help you work out what measures you may need to take prior to flying. This may include graduated compression stockings, aspirin, or anticoagulants.
  • If you will need oxygen during the flight, this must be requested in advance. A Medical Information Form, stating your current clinical condition and the reason for oxygen requirement, must be filled out and submitted to the airlines. It may take 3-5 working days to process and subjected to the airlines approval.

Section II: Pre-operative Preparation

  • Please inform your doctor before the surgery if you have an existing medical condition for which you are taking medication and/or you have undergone any previous surgeries.
  • If you are taking blood thinner medications such as Aspirin, Clopidogrel (Plavix®),®Warfarin, Orfarin®, Rivaroxaban (Xarelto® ), Apixaban (Eliquis® ),Dabigatran (Pradaxa®), Edoxaban (Lixiana®) or dietary supplements such as vitamin E, fish oil, please inform physician ahead of time because you may be asked to temporarily stop your medications so you can safely have the surgery.
  • If you smoke and drink alcohol regularly, please stop for at least one week before the surgery to reduce the chances of complications.
  • If you have any underlying diseases: cardiovascular disease / diabetes / high blood pressure / asthma / cancer / or others including any allergic to any medications and any medicines you are taking, current treatment and correlating diagnosis, please inform physician in advance.


You will be received by the nurse at the assigned ward where you will be admitted. S/he will accompany you to your room, explain to you how to utilize the facilities available in your room. The nurse will provide you with the bill of rights and responsibilities in SGH-Dubai.


When you arrive, kindly inform your respective Nurse/Doctor about any medication you have been prescribed. If you cannot bring your medication with you, we will arrange the same for you. The medical team will review your medications while you are in the hospital since they may need to be altered or stopped. We will not stop any prevailing medication without your consent. Your designated Nurse will retain the medication in your assigned medication locker at the nursing station. Upon discharge, your medications will be returned back, should the concerned Doctor approve its use. In case you require a different prescription, it will be provided.

Saudi German Hospital – Dubai is well prepared for emergency evacuation. Each floor has 6 emergency exits and at the 1st floor, we have 8 emergency exits. All Exits are identified on the map available in your room. Always wait for staff assistance. Please don’t use lifts in case of fire. Signs are placed at all levels to guide you to the nearest exit.

Saudi German Hospital – Dubai has designated special parking areas for Customers with Special Needs, with clear notification signs close to the main entrance ground floor. Throughout the Hospital, toilets for customers with Special Needs are appropriately located. The hospital is well equipped to receive patients with a special need for in-patients services, as well.


You can use your mobile in the hospital unless you see the sign of prohibition in restricted areas. If you require internet access, kindly contact the staff for login details.


Saudi German Hospital – Dubai is an NON SMOKING facility by law. For smokers, an area outside the hospital is allocated. Your abidance with this rule is a must.


The meal menu is substantial and covers different types of cuisines. You will be provided with 3 meals daily, subject to your respective Doctor’s/Dietician’s instructions.


Our visitors’ timings are daily between 10:00 – 22:00 Hrs On Fridays, children are allowed to visit.


We provide our customers and patients quality communication services. If you find it difficult to proceed with our system please don’t hesitate to approach the nearest reception and inform that you need guidance whether to translate or any other service.

Upon arriving at your allotted ward, we will provide the details of your dedicated Nurse(s) or healthcare assistant(s). During shift change, the designated Nurse/Healthcare assistant will introduce themselves, to enable you to know whom to call in case of any queries. Each ward is managed by a Ward Manager, who can be contacted at any point of time to address your concerns. All SGH-Dubai staff carry Identification badge with their Name, Photograph, and designation. A Doctor will be available 24 hours in the ward in case you need any clarification(s).


You will be required to sign a consent form prior to any procedure(s), at our Hospital. This is a legal requirement to help protect your rights and to ensure that you understand the risks and benefits of the procedure(s), as well as any alternatives available. During the course of your stay, we may need to take further tests to help in better understanding your medical condition. If you are not sure about anything related to your treatme


Planning for your discharge will begin on or before admission. We will discuss your estimated date of discharge, your specific needs and work out a schedule for the same. Most patients go back home when they leave the hospital. In case you require community support services, we will get it arranged. We aim to ensure your quick recovery.


We provide designated wards (inpatient & outpatient), OPD, accommodation facilities separately for both men and women. We aim to ensure your privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.


On arriving at the hospital, we will gather specific information to ensure appropriate care. This information will be kept confidential and enable us to provide you enhanced care for future treatment at our hospital. As per the UAE healthcare regulation, we require to gather specific information. As a hospital policy, only staff related to your medical care can access the given information and strictly maintain confidentiality at all times.


In case of special infectious disease, the hospital will send your details to Dubai Health Authority (i.e.: HIV, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis)


The medical staff will explain to you about the discharge medications, instructions and provide you a discharge summary letter. We will give you details to settle your Bill or clearance from your insurance provider.


You will have to close your Bill prior to leaving the hospital and collect your receipts. In case you kept with us your valuable, kindly collect it before you discharge. A time for your discharge will be informed to you, to allow us clean the room and organize it for the next patient. We thank you in advance for abiding with the discharge time specified to you.


Medication you carried to our hospital and still need will be returned back. If you have been prescribed new medication, you will be given a course to be taken home. Further medication required will be prescribed by your attending Doctor (as and when required). The dosage and medication schedule will be explained before been discharged. Written instructions will be given on the packaging and a medication information sheet will be provided.


If you need a follow-up appointment or further investigations, we will arrange it before you leave or you will receive a call after discharge from the hospital.


If you and/or your Family need any assistance at home, the support services will be arranged before your discharge. If you require equipment at home, arrangements will be done accordingly. A list of support groups available in the country of residence will be provided for you in order to facilitate your care post-discharge.


We expect you to arrange your own transport to your home. However, make sure you inform the ward staff about your relative and/or caregiver`s arrival schedule, to enable us in organizing medication and appointments etc. Hospital transport is for people with special medical assistance only.
